Chonburi, and especially the area around Pattaya, is chock full of recreational activities including museums, aquariums, theme parks, botanical gardens, cultural and elephant shows, and one of the best zoos in the country, Khao Khieo Open Zoo. There is no lack of things to do before the sun goes down and the nightlife begins.

Visitors can see demonstrations of how wild elephants were caught and trained to work in the jungle before teak logging was banned. There is also a show everyday at 2.30 pm depicting the role of war elephants in long ago battles, and elephant treks through the nearby bush can be arranged for a fee of 700 baht.
